Replacement Roof Tank at Abbey Lodge
In May 2021, the H&V team began works at Abbey Lodge, a luxury apartment block located in Regents Park, London. The site was formally home to a gothic style villa which was demolished and replaced in the 1920s with this prestigious period building. The team were initially engaged to deliver a small pipework job, however during delivery further issues were uncovered, leading to an extension of works.
As a result of their unanticipated discovery, H&V have spent the past year completing a full roof tank replacement programme within the residential property. The existing system was over 40 years old and exhibited extensive corrosion to the pipework, so it was a prime priority for our team to replace this as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Overall, our works have included replacing the corroded pipework, undertaking roofing remedial works, and also repairing the roof tank linings to prevent leaking. The use of specialist hoist lifts was necessary to move components up and down the multi-storey building to carry these out.
Close liaison with the residents has been essential and our team has maintained regular communications with the full-time site porter and managing agency to keep occupants up to date.
It was also crucial to keep the system live in order to minimise disruption to the building occupants, however this proved no challenge for our skilled team who have a substantial level of experience with working in live residential environments. The new system is now live, and the team have successfully kept the system operational throughout works by implementing specified changeover periods, strategic shutdowns, and utilising temporary water supplies.
