This project consisted of replacement heating and domestic pipe services within the Main building, Science, Sports and ITC blocks over two phases. Due to time expired and inefficient piped services and plant we were appointed to carry out the full strip-out and replacement of the existing services throughout the main block and localised modifications within the modern sub buildings.
With the work due to be carried out across the school summer holidays, the discovery of vast amounts of asbestos containing materials throughout the building meant the project programme was extended to incorporate Easter and May Bank Holidays along with 3 weeks of the summer holiday to allow the initial asbestos removal enabling works to take place.
Critical ‘heating on’ dates had to be met. Whilst the strip-out of existing systems could be carried out during the remaining summer holiday period, the majority of the works were carried out in an occupied-premises, working in a phased manor with localised changeovers of services and incorporating working unsociable hours.
